ASGBI Audio-Visual Prize
In 1981, an audio-visual competition was introduced to the International Surgical Congress, with the objective of encouraging the production of educational films suitable for a consultant surgical audience. The competition now attracts high quality entries, which are judged by the Scientific Committee.
There are two categories of submission:
1. Entries produced in-house by a surgical team in association with their department of medical illustration.
2. Entries produced more commercially by a surgical team with external technical or financial assistance.
A top three submissions are awarded prizes.
First Prize - £300
Second Prize - £200
Third Prize - £100
Commentaries must be in English and films must be no longer than 10 minutes in length.
Entries will be judged according to surgical interest, teaching value and technical merit and will be shown at the International Surgical Congress, where the winners will be announced during the Prize Giving Session. A list of equipment used for the production must accompany each entry, together with full names and qualifications of those most involved in the making of the film.
Closing date for entries will always be the same as the current abstract deadline.
